The Lucky and the not so lucky

Polka’s  happy tale

Kiwi now renamed Polka was abandoned as a little puppy one evening in a dog run. As all the dogs headed home, we noticed that she sat alone with nobody to take her home. This little girl was left behind with nothing but a collar. Now, she has found a forever home. She is doing very well with her new family and we are glad we offered her a chance of a lifetime to be loved. Here is a quick update from Polka’s wonderful owners:

“We are doing great here. Polka has been a wonderful addition to our family.  She is around 15kg now and it’s fun to take her out.  We got her spayed and micro chipped yesterday. She is almost back to normal today – it’s quite a relief.”

These photos say it all. We would like to thank Polka’s lovely family for choosing to adopt and giving her this opportunity of a lifetime. To read more about Polka and her amazing life now, visit http://polkaandme.blogspot.com/

Of course, there will always be those that aren’t as lucky. Here is the tale of Johnny Cash, a poor boy, ill treated simply because he was friendly. Johnny Cash is a lovely stray that roams the areas some of us feed. He has always been a gentle boy and loves to run up for his chicken neck treats! However, we recently heard that Johnny’s head had been smashed and hit by a China worker in the area. To our horror, Johnny was indeed in an awful state. His head was merely a bloody mess with nothing much left protecting his skull. Johnny has been rescued and is now living at the Cattery at Pets villa as our dog kennels are full. Johnny has gone for his first visit to the vet. The road to recovery is going to be a long and painful one. To make things worse, friendly Johnny is now far more wary of humans and suspicious of those around him. However, we will continue to do our best to make Johnny Cash the same old boy he used to be. If you are keen to help with the cost of Johnny’s medical bills, please help us help him by writing a cheque to ‘The Animal Doctors Pte Ltd’ and write ‘Johnny Cash’ behind the cheque along with your address so we can mail you a receipt. In addition to this, we have also taken in June this month. June was a malnourished stray roaming the area. She seemed like she had not eaten in weeks. However, June does seem like she belonged to a home prior to roaming the streets as her personality is unlike that of a stray and several other signs point to a case of abandonment rather than being born a stray. June is a lucky girl as she was smart enough to walk all the way to Pets Villa and wait outside to be taken despite her skinny frame. All we could see was bones. She is slowly putting on weight and is warming up to us. June currently has no sponsor and if you are keen to make a monthly commitment onwards sponsoring June and contributing to her stay with us. It costs $130 a month to sponsor a dog. Please contact us at general@animalloversleague.com or contact Christine @ 97937162. June would love a sponsor who can take her out on walks, fatten her up and spend some quality time with her especially after all she has been through.

We would also like to feature a cat  in need of help. This is Kit Kat. He was taken in when his owners chose to leave the country. Kit Kat needs to be sterilised and get his vaccinations done. If you would like to help Kit Kat, please help us help him by writing a cheque to ‘The Animal Doctors Pte Ltd’ and write ‘Kit Kat’ behind the cheque along with your address so we can mail you a receipt.
